Our Origin

Deep in the Wuyi Mountains, rocky cliffs, mountain mist, and slow roasting shape every leaf. YanMist Tea focuses on expressive rock oolong with depth, aroma, and a lingering mineral finish known as yan yun.

This is yan cha — rock oolong shaped by place, fire, mineral character, and time.

The Concept

Yan Yun — The Taste of Stone

Yan yun (岩韵), often translated as “rock rhyme,” is the lingering mineral depth that defines Wuyi rock oolong.

It comes from rocky cliffs, mountain mist, careful roasting, and the slow transformation of the leaf over time. It is not added flavor — it is a sense of place carried in aroma, body, and finish.

Rock Rhyme

Mineral depth, roasted warmth, and a finish that lingers after each steep.

The Place

Why Wuyishan Matters

Wuyi rock oolong is shaped by steep cliffs, mineral-rich soil, mountain mist, and patient charcoal roasting. The result is a tea with structure, aroma, and a finish that keeps unfolding.

01

Cliff-grown character

Rocky terrain gives Wuyi oolong its mineral backbone and layered finish.

02

Mist and slow growth

Mountain humidity softens the leaf and helps build aroma over time.

03

Careful roasting

Roasting transforms the tea into a deeper, warmer, more structured cup.

The Craft

From Leaf to Cup

Rock oolong is a slow tea. Every step — picking, oxidation, roasting, resting, and brewing — shapes how aroma, body, and mineral finish appear in the cup.

01

Picked for aroma

Leaves are selected for fragrance, structure, and the ability to develop through roasting.

02

Roasted with patience

Slow roasting builds warmth, depth, and the signature mineral finish of yan cha.

03

Rested for balance

After roasting, the tea rests so sharpness softens and aroma becomes more integrated.

04

Packed in small batches

Small-batch packing helps preserve freshness, fragrance, and character.

Brew Guide

How to Brew Rock Oolong

Rock oolong opens in layers. Use hot water, short steeps, and let each infusion reveal a different side of aroma, roast, and mineral finish.

Short steeps. Hot water. Many returns.

For the best experience, brew in a gaiwan or small teapot. Start light, then adjust tea amount and steep time to match your preferred strength.

Each tea can be infused multiple times, with aroma and texture changing across the session.

Tea Amount

5–7g

For a 100–120ml gaiwan or small teapot.

Water

200–212°F

Hot water helps release roasted aroma and mineral depth.

First Steep

5–10s

Start short, then gradually increase across infusions.

Infusions

6–8+

Good rock oolong continues unfolding through the session.
