Refund policy

Thank you for shopping with YanMist Tea. We want you to feel confident when purchasing our Wuyi rock oolong teas.

Because tea is a consumable food product, returns and refunds are handled carefully to protect product quality, freshness, and customer safety. Please read this Refund Policy before placing an order.

1. Return Window

You may request a return within 14 days after your order is delivered.

To be eligible for a return, the product must be:

  • Unused
  • Unopened
  • In its original packaging
  • In the same condition as received
  • Accompanied by proof of purchase, such as your order number or confirmation email

Returns requested after 14 days from delivery may not be accepted.

2. Items That Cannot Be Returned

For safety and quality reasons, we cannot accept returns for tea products that have been opened, used, tasted, partially consumed, damaged after delivery, or improperly stored after receipt.

The following items are not eligible for return:

  • Opened tea packages
  • Used or partially consumed tea
  • Products without original packaging
  • Products damaged due to improper storage after delivery
  • Gift cards, if offered
  • Final sale, clearance, or promotional items marked as non-returnable
  • Items returned without prior approval
  • Items returned to the wrong address

Tea is sensitive to moisture, heat, odors, and handling. Once a tea package has been opened, we cannot resell it or confirm that it has remained in its original condition.

3. Order Cancellations

You may request to cancel an order before it has been shipped.

If your order has not yet been dispatched, we will do our best to cancel it and issue a refund to your original payment method.

Once an order has been shipped, it cannot be cancelled. In that case, you may request a return after receiving the order, subject to the eligibility rules in this policy.

To request a cancellation, please contact us as soon as possible with your order number.

4. Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect Items

Please inspect your order as soon as it arrives.

If your order arrives damaged, defective, incomplete, or incorrect, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery.

When contacting us, please include:

  • Your order number
  • A clear description of the issue
  • Photos of the product received
  • Photos of the outer shipping box
  • Photos of the inner packaging materials
  • Photos showing any damage, leakage, breakage, or incorrect item

Please keep the product and all packaging materials until the issue has been reviewed.

If the issue is confirmed, we may offer one of the following solutions depending on the situation and product availability:

  • Replacement
  • Store credit
  • Partial refund
  • Full refund

YanMist Tea reserves the right to request additional information before approving a refund or replacement.

5. Missing Items

If an item is missing from your order, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery.

Please include your order number, photos of all items received, and photos of the packaging.

If we confirm that an item was missing due to our error, we will work with you to provide a replacement, store credit, or refund for the missing item.

6. How to Request a Return

  • Your name
  • The item you would like to return
  • The reason for return
  • Photos of the unopened product and packaging

Please do not send items back without contacting us first.

If your return request is approved, we will provide return instructions and the return address. Items sent back without prior approval may not be accepted.

7. Return Shipping Costs

Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless the return is due to our error, such as a confirmed wrong item, missing item, damaged item, or defective product.

Original shipping fees are non-refundable unless otherwise required by law or unless the issue was caused by YanMist Tea.

If a return is approved and the customer is responsible for return shipping, we recommend using a trackable shipping service. YanMist Tea is not responsible for returned packages that are lost, damaged, delayed, or delivered to the wrong address during return transit.

8. Return Packaging

Returned items must be packed securely to prevent damage during shipping.

If a returned item arrives damaged due to poor return packaging, we may reduce or deny the refund.

Please use appropriate packaging and include any original product packaging where possible.

9. Return Inspection and Refund Approval

Once we receive your returned item, we will inspect it to confirm that it meets the return eligibility requirements.

We will notify you by email whether your refund has been approved or denied.

If your return is approved, your refund will be processed to the original payment method.

Please note that it may take additional time for your bank, credit card provider, payment processor, or payment platform to post the refund to your account.

10. Refund Processing Time

After an approved return is received and inspected, refunds are usually processed within 5–10 business days.

Depending on your payment provider, it may take additional time for the refund to appear on your statement.

If more than 15 business days have passed since we approved your refund, please contact us.

11. Partial Refunds

In some cases, only a partial refund may be issued.

Partial refunds may apply when:

  • Only part of an order is returned
  • An item is returned with damaged or missing packaging
  • Return shipping fees, handling fees, or non-refundable shipping costs apply
  • A package is returned due to an incorrect or incomplete address provided by the customer
  • A package is returned because the customer failed to pick it up
  • A package is returned because the customer refused delivery
  • A package is returned due to unpaid customs duties, import taxes, or local fees

If a package is returned to us due to customer refusal, unpaid customs fees, incorrect address, failed delivery, or failure to collect the package, any refund may be reduced by original shipping fees, return shipping fees, customs fees, handling fees, payment processing fees, or other costs incurred.

12. Customs Duties, Import Taxes, and Refused Packages

For international orders, customers are responsible for any customs duties, import taxes, VAT, brokerage fees, customs handling fees, or local charges unless clearly stated otherwise at checkout.

If you refuse a package due to customs charges, taxes, import fees, or local delivery fees, and the package is returned to us, we may issue a partial refund only after the package is safely returned and inspected.

If the package is abandoned, destroyed, seized, or lost during return shipping, we may not be able to issue a refund.

Shipping fees, customs fees, taxes, and carrier handling fees are generally non-refundable.

13. Packages Marked as Delivered

If tracking shows that your package was delivered, but you have not received it, please first check:

  • Your mailbox
  • Front door or porch
  • Parcel locker
  • Mailroom
  • Reception desk
  • Building management
  • Household members
  • Neighbors
  • Local carrier office

YanMist Tea is not responsible for packages marked as delivered by the carrier. However, if you contact us, we will do our best to assist you with next steps.

Replacement or refund for packages marked as delivered is not guaranteed.

14. Undeliverable Packages

If a package is returned to us because it was undeliverable, unclaimed, refused, or sent to an incorrect or incomplete address provided by the customer, we may offer one of the following after the package is returned and inspected:

  • Reshipment at the customer’s expense
  • Partial refund after deducting applicable costs

If the package is not returned to us, or if it is lost, abandoned, destroyed, or disposed of by the carrier, we may not be able to issue a refund.

15. Exchanges

We do not offer automatic exchanges.

If you would like a different tea, please request a return if your item is eligible. Once your return is approved and refunded, you may place a new order.

If the item you received was incorrect or damaged, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery so we can review the issue.

16. Sale Items and Promotional Items

Sale items, discounted items, limited promotions, and final sale items may not be eligible for return or refund unless they arrive damaged, defective, or incorrect.

If a promotional item or gift was included with your order, it may need to be returned together with the original item before a refund can be processed.

17. Storage After Delivery

Tea should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, moisture, heat, and strong odors.

YanMist Tea is not responsible for changes in tea aroma, flavor, texture, or quality caused by improper storage after delivery.
